Valentina possessed only a basic militia when the Star League campaign to forcibly incorporate the Alliance into the Star League began in 2581. The people of Valentina knew that Alliance president Grigori Avellar had abandoned them and that the Star League forces would invade Valentina sooner or later; this resulted in a referendum in November 2581 in which the majority vote was to surrender arms and capitulate should Star League forces attack.

Valentina was the last system that the mysterious Minnesota Tribe was last sighted in before Comstar claimed to lose their trail afterwards.
